Night Train 228

On August 22, our team of six swimmers broke the world record for longest continuous relay by swimming from Santa Barbara to San Diego.

The 228 mile ultra distance swim in 100 hours, 29 minutes eclipsed the existing world record by more than 20 miles.

Here’s a video recap of the event:

The route started at Gaviota State Park in Santa Barbara, stayed to the east of the Channel Islands, and went approximately in a straight line to the San Diego Yacht Club. The planned course is shown in red on the map below, and the actual route is shown with blue markers:

Finishing near Coronado Island, home of the BUD/S training program for Navy SEALs, the swim benefitted both the Night Train Youth Swim Program and the Navy Seal Foundation.
